******OPEN CALLS FOR ART 2019******

MORSELS- June Open Call

MORSELS- A small works exhibit

A morsel, by definition, is a small bite of food or small mouthful.  I want to apply this idea to the “consumptiom” of art, filling the gallery with morsels of delicious art that patrons can feast upon to add to their collections.  The theme is open, but keep in mind that Calvaria primarily deals with lowbrow, pop surrealism, dark/macabre and strong contemporary work.

MAX SIZE OF WORK NOT INCLUDING FRAME IS 6”X6”. This means that the art piece must be 6”x6” or smaller (meaning no side of the actual art piece not including frame can be over 6"), but if the frame makes it 8”x8”, for example, that is ok. If you are feeling brave, you can work even smaller than that! You can use 6”x6” or smaller cradled panels or stretched canvas squares/rectangles/ovals if you are avoiding framing.

International artists are welcome to apply, but please be aware of shipping times and regulations to get your art to the gallery.

2D art only for this exhibit (OR… sculptures affixed to a 6”x6” wall hangable panel).

You can email up to 5 images for consideration to calvariagalleryandstudio@gmail.com, but at most only 3 will be selected.

Deadline for submission is June 3rd. You will receive notification of acceptance by June 4th. Images of accepted work are due by June 9th.  All work must be at the gallery by June 17th unless special circumstances arise (please contact me if that is the case; I am flexible and patient).  If you are an artist living OUTSIDE of the United States, Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico, please note that on your submission so that I can reply as soon as possible to allow you enough time for delivery.

If you are accepted into the show, there is a $5 curatorial/advertising fee that must be sent via PayPal to calvariagalleryandstudio@gmail.com.

The split is 60% for the artist and 40% for Calvaria. I will send a consignment form via email to be completed upon acceptance into the show.

Show opens June 21st until July 15th.

There are so many tales across all lands and cultures of the darkness, the demons, the evil spirits and malicious entities that wreak havoc in the world.  These dark beings are sometimes responsible for instilling fear in order to ensure good behavior in the population or as a nemesis to a good entity to depict the importance of balance or restraint in life.
